Snow and Strong Wind warning

We are aware of weather warnings for parts of Scotland, including Highland, from this afternoon through to tomorrow morning. The Met office has issued a warning for the period between 16:00 today (Wednesday 9th February) till 1100 on Thursday 10th February:-

Snow showers bringing some travel disruption. – Some roads and railways likely to be affected, leading to longer journey times by car as well as by bus and train services – Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

SSENSSEN Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks is a trading name of Scottish and Southern Energy Power Distribution Limited Registered in Scotland have provided the following message: SSEN Distribution (Scotland) is moving to Weather Warning status in anticipation of gale force winds which are forecast to affect large areas of our area from 0200 on Thursday 10th February.

Winds in excess of 80mph expected in the Western Isles, North West Highland and Central Highlands. As the low pressure system moves across our territory throughout the morning and into the afternoon, winds increase across Tayside, Angus and Aberdeenshire with gusts expected around 65mph with some isolated pockets of 70mph gusts in places.
