Resurfacing of A834 starts 5th June

Leave a little longer for your journey times from Monday the 5th of June because the A834 through the village is at last to be resurfaced😃. I don’t know if this will comprise a series of patches of the worst bits, as they’ve done towards Dingwall, or the full Monty, but be aware that traffic lights and delays will be inevitable whatever they’ve committed themselves to doing. What puzzles me is how the roadworks which start on the 5th of June and end on the 13th add up to 15 working days? They are either working double time and can cram fifteen days into nine, or perhaps time travellers from an alternative universe. Once they’ve got that done, all that the Council need to do is free up all the blocked drains.😉

  1. They’ve started, well at least at the bottom end of the village.
And it looks to me like they’ve decided to fully resurface the road instead of extensive patches.
It maybe a noisy job, but at least the traffic lights have temporarily put a stop to the speedsters for a while.

  2. Of course this means they’ve missed the chance of using my plan to bury the 400kV power cable under the A834 and connect Spittal with Beauly, with the additional benefit of having an ice free road that never needs salting in winter.☹

  3. For road safety purposes it’s just a crying shame they couldn’t have have added a chicane and speed humps at the start of the 30 mph zone, and made a proper job of it, as they’ve recently done in Beauly.

  4. I am very disappointed to let the residence of golf course road knows that there will not be any repairs to our road included in these works.
I’ve been engaging with our local councillor for some time now, hoping that would help get this road repaired into a safe state but it seems not.
Can I please request a visit from the community council elected committee to the section above Strathallan house. The road is unsafe and we need your help.

  5. Ruth, I think we have exchanged emails on this issue today. I’ve written to the Roads team at Highland Council asking them to address your concerns. Hopefully they will get back to you or me.

If anyone has concerns about road issues they should report them directly to the Highland Council using their website. Go to http://www.highland.gov.uk. Then to “roads and parking” then to “roads and pavement problems” then “report a fault”. I believe this is the quickest way to get a response.

    Ron.
